Loxton / Churchill 8kW mk1 Baffle Brick

This baffle brick fits the Loxton and Churchill 8kW stove, Mk1 model (Eurostove's internal reference L/CH-8-M1-Baffle), and is listed against both the plain grate configuration (282mm x 162mm x 16mm) and the EMG grate configuration (305mm x 205mm x 30mm), including EMG-to-plain-grate conversion setups, so it covers both common grate arrangements used on this stove. It weighs approximately 2kg. The baffle brick sits at the top of the firebox, forming part of the baffle (throat plate) assembly between the fire and the flue outlet. Its job is to force hot combustion gases to travel further across the top of the firebox before escaping into the flue, rather than taking the shortest route out, which gives the gases more time to burn more fully and improves the stove's overall efficiency. It also shields the metal throat plate above it from the most intense heat directly over the fire. Because of its position right above the flames, the baffle brick typically wears faster than bricks lower in the firebox, and cracking, crumbling or sagging is a normal sign of age after sustained use. Once that wear is visible, it's worth replacing the brick promptly, since a badly worn baffle brick can let flame reach the throat plate directly. If you're unsure which grate configuration your 8kW Mk1 stove has, check the grate dimensions against those above or contact Eurostove to confirm before ordering.
