Steel has been the construction material choice in recent year for wood burning stoves. Smooth rounded shapes and clean lines have transformed the contemporary stove market. Steel stoves are very air tight and warm up quickly and are therefore suited to short burns cycles. This is ideal for heating a house after work, a steel stove will provide quick heat. Steel is commonly used for convection stoves, this is when two or more layers of steel wrap the stove , giving better heat transfer through a larger surface area and a cooler external body. Convection stove are generally better for timber framed building as distance to combustibles is less than a radiant stove.
